Rhode Island Meals on Wheels is a nonprofit organization that delivers meals to
homebound elderly people throughout the state.
A noontime meal is delivered Monday thru Friday. The meal consists of soup,
salad, meat, potato, vegetable, bread, dessert, and milk.
Eligibility criteria include:
1. The person must be age 60 or older
2. The person must be unable to cook due to a physical or
psychological reason.
3. The person must live alone and have no help in preparing
any meals.
4. The person must be homebound and unable to attend a meal
site.
Payment:
Funding is received from Title IIIC nutrition program
through the RI Department of Elderly Affairs; state, local, and private funds; and client
donations.
