Home health care providers are licensed by the Department of Health.
There are two categories; home nursing care providers, and home care providers.
The distinction between the two licenses is that home nursing providers offer
skilled nursing care, while home care providers do not provide any direct nursing care.
Home care providers are restricted to primarily home health aide and homemaker
services.
Another distinction is that many home nursing care providers, also
participate in the Medicare home care program. Home care providers cannot.
